It's no coincidence that Belona won the sustainability award for linerless labels (labels without backing paper) in 2014. Linerless labels contribute to a better environment in several ways. As a labelling product compared to traditional labels (stickers!), a linerless label already offers advantages. In addition, there are substantial advantages to be gained with linerless labels throughout the entire packaging chain.

As a product compared to traditional labels, linerless labels differ due to the lack of backing paper. This backing paper no longer needs to be produced, but after using the labels it does not need to be disposed of. Also, linerless labels do not have gaps between them. Not only in the end product, but also during production. In total, 60% material can be saved for a linerless label!

In the packaging chain, linerless labels contribute even more to sustainability. There are more labels on a roll with the same diameter. In addition to the productivity benefits (fewer roll changes), this also offers more labels per transport and less waste during processing. The possibility to work with variable label heights means standardisation, i.e. fewer different labels. This results in multiple savings on space and waste!
